About
Stewart Academy
For over two centuries, there have been a small group of “New England boarding schools” that have been called the premier high schools in America. This list includes: Choate Rosemary Hall, Deerfield Academy, The Hotchkiss School, The Lawrenceville School, Phillips Andover Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, and Taft. The successes of these seven aforementioned educational institutions are truly impressive.
These seven premier schools share numerous commonalities that set them apart from other American high schools. This list includes their extraordinary facilities, extensive endowments and more. But the two primary factors that drive the impressiveness of the educational offering of these schools are their discussion-based teaching method of choice, “Harkness”, and their commitment to a traditional liberal arts education. While Stewart Academy is innovative in many ways, our commitment to these two best practices is the primary factor that allows us to mirror the high-quality education of these premier institutions. Stewart Academy creates schools that offer a high-quality, discussion-based, liberal arts education.
